I have friends in China and Germany who I correspond with, talk on the phone with every few days. One of them in China (have 3 of them) has visited me 3 times and will probably visit again. I hope my friend in Germany (from India) can get a visa and visit me.

I have spoken at the City Council meetings in Huntington Park and will probably speak more. In September 2013 I spoke out about the future development of our shopping area and sent the Council members a short document.   http://huntingtonpark.org/

I graduated from Huntington Park High School. If you have seen the movie GREASE, several scenes were filmed there, the most famous being http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odmEUl4nGCY  I became a geek in high school, ran the 16 mm Projectors, set up the sound system for dances and the football games, and did all kinds of things in the auditorium behind the scenes.

Every letter I wrote to a magazine or newspaper editor has been published. One was a bit critical of the CEO of a company I was working for, IBM. Results of the letters were all positive.

When I get bored, I get a sheet of paper and design electronic things.

In high school I made master keys, got in trouble, but nothing happened.

My high school English teacher, John Dorand, told me never to take a a job that depended on my writing skills. When I worked in Telecommunications, writing documents was key to my career. I told Mr. Droand that he was wrong 50 years later.

My family got the first TV in about late 1948. In 1949 we watched the landmark TV event when Kathy Fiscus fell down the well. This was the first real live remote broadcast which is so common today. My first PC was an IBM, 2 ea 360K floppy drives, 256 K of memory and a speed of 4.7 Mhz. It used DOS 2.0.

In my younger days I spent a lot of time listening to Shortwave stations from all over the world.. When I took World Geography in high school, I was the only one that knew things about other countries and the world.

My father was also a Design Engineer, he never went to college. He taught me a lot about design and technical things. Maybe that is why I ended up a Design Engineer without any training.

In 1963, I considered leaving college and joining the Freedom Marches in the southern states. I did not do that and often wonder how my life would have changed if I really did it.

When in China visiting a friend, I wrote a letter to member of the House of Representatives (e mail) about a bill he was proposing that I thought was in violation of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution. My friend in China was convinced I would be arrested when I returned to USA. I tried to explain about Freedom of Speech, as granted by the Constitution, but he remained unconvinced.

I have a piece of rail from the Mount Lowe Incline Railway and a brass whistle from an old PE Streetcar. They are on display in my living room.

90% of the time I have tea with milk and a slice of toast for breakfast. I like Trader Joe's cracked wheat sourdough bread.

The first gun I shot was a Red Ryder Air Rifle when I was 10 years old. Then there were other guns. I also learned how to make fire crackers, and later M-80's, actually they were quite powerful. I mixed my own powder for that from scratch.

The fist school I attended had only one teacher for 4 grades and I was there from Grade 1 to Grade 4.

I tend to be a tee shirt, jeans and tennis shoe guy.

I have visited, the Great Wall, the Eifel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the sewers of Paris, London Bridge, the Vatican, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a bunch of other places.
